At First Lutheran Christian School & Arts, we recognize the importance of involving our students in activities outside of their regular curriculum. The purpose of this is to enhance their learning experience and improve their skills that cannot be addressed in a regular school curriculum.
Art – Under the trained eye of our talented art teacher Joanna Fdczuk – an inspired artist in her own right – our students learn about art and art history as they experiment with ways to express themselves creatively through age-appropriate projects using a variety of techniques and materials. Students learn that art helps them connect more deeply to the world and opens them to new ways of seeing.
Music- Music has the power to fill us with the wonder of life and through music we use different areas of our brains, improving cognitive function. At First Lutheran School & Arts students learn to read music and basic music theory in daily choir classes.
Drama – Each school year our talented teachers work with our students to create plays where the students get to express and share their gifts and creativity with the school and their families.
Theater – At First Lutheran School & Arts, students perform and take part in one full scale musical per school year. All students can participate, and experience the process from audition to curtain call. Stage performance can be a catalyst that sparks the imagination – a safe place where students can explore their unique creative talents. These performances help our students raise their comfort level with public speaking, build self-confidence and think outside the box. The experience our students gain in solving creative problems boosts their problem-solving skills in all areas of life.
