ATHLETICS & PE

Overview

The importance of regular exercise for children and youth is widely known. It’s believed to reduce the risk of obesity and even disease; it strengthens the body, boosts self-confidence and provides a necessary release from daily frustrations. Sports and exercise are a part of every FLS student’s daily life.

Athletics

It’s a fact that kids who play sports often do better academically and socially than kids who don’t. While we appreciate these important benefits at FLS, we focus on the fun.

Volleyball, basketball and running are included as part of our general fitness program. Interested students in the upper grades can join the FLS basketball team for their age group and compete with players from other schools in Glendale and neighboring communities.

Physical Education

While budget cutbacks have forced many schools to omit physical education from their curricula, we continue to make it a priority at FLS. Students participate in a regular exercise routine emphasizing cardiovascular fitness and strength training. We also educate our students about good nutrition and encourage them to eat a healthy diet.
